A Word About … Acne and Birth Control Pills
In 1996, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved a low-dose birth control pill to be used as an effective treatment for acne in women over 15 years of age. Research has shown that certain birth control pills lower the levels of hormones that cause acne.
However, taking birth control pills along with other medications for the prevention of acne may reduce the effectiveness of both medications. If you are taking birth control pills, talk to your pediatrician about their effect on acne.
Finally, many people don’t understand acne and may say hurtful things about it. Although acne may bother you, keep in mind it’s only temporary. With present-day treatment, it usually can be controlled.

Cystic Acne Treatment – Are There Easy & Effective Solutions?

Cystic acne is a more advanced stage of acne. This severe form of acne takes the shape of large and painful boils showing up on the skin of the face. If cystic acne is not treated properly, it can leave painful and ugly scarring on your face.
Researchers are still looking into the causes of cystic acne, even though many scientific tests show them to be due to an upsurge of hormones produced by the body. The oil glands in the skin become overactive due to an influx of these hormones causing them to produce e more oil and sebum than normal.
After that the oil glands will begin to swell. As they swell, they will begin to harden beneath the skin of the face.
These oil glands are then inflamed, and they are in fact infected. At this point they are red ad extremely painful. This is what we call cystic acne, and they appear as red lesions.
Cystic acne treatment is no easy task, and in fact you might need to visit your dermatologist. They will be able to recommend a few different drugs that are appropriate for treating the cystic acne. Some of these could be Isotretinoin, antibiotics, etc. These will help to fight off the infection and return to normal.
You need to try to resist the urge to squeeze the acne. It will provide you with a little relief, and you might think that everything is fine. Yes, you will scar, and you might believe that you can live with a little scarring. What you probably can’t live with is the cystic acne coming back and being a lot worse than it actually was.
The treatment for this will mean that you won’t be able to use moisturizers or even heavy makeup, at least not where the infection is. If you use a chemical based makeup, then you’ll definitely end up with a serious problem. If you exfoliate the skin, then you will reduce the dead cells, but you still need to be careful with rubbing those infected spots. Make sure you use warm water, and perhaps an antiseptic soap.
Going out in the sun is also not a good idea when you are suffering from cystic acne. That infected portion of the skin is tender enough to get burnt. You do not want to suffer from sunburn over and above a bad case of cystic acne, do you? If you really need to go out in the sun, cover the infected skin portions with cucumber juice, so that they remain moisturized but do not suffer much from the onslaught of the summer heat, dust and grime.
Natural treatment will likely be your best route. Wash your infected areas with the following mixture of ingredients: one teaspoon of buttermilk, turmeric in two parts white gram flour, and honey.
This is arguably the best way to get rid of those cysts. It is also the greatest exfoliating agent out there, and it has been mentioned in many beauty magazines. Good luck!

Suffering from acne can be a harrowing experience, but finding a remedy that works for you might not be as difficult as you feared. Many people have found that natural remedies are not only effective, but have many additional benefits, so consider what natural acne remedy might be best for you.
We’re told, as teenagers, that acne is a side-effect of growing up and nothing to be worried about, but many people can’t help but be ashamed by their acne. Acne is a skin condition caused by changes in the body adolescence brings, and while teenagers are the ones to most commonly suffer from it, pregnant women, women going through menopause, or frankly anyone having problems with their hormones can be affected.
For those who suffer from acne, have you ever considered using a natural acne remedy? Natural acne remedies have been around for centuries, and there are so many of them that is’s very likely there’s one that may work for you.
When you are looking for a natural acne remedy, think about washing your face less! The truth of the matter is that when you wash your face too much, you are making your skin feel raw and abraded as well as drying it out.
The skin responds to this assault by producing more oil, and this unfortunately can result in more acne. Many people have found that once they switch to a less harsh soap – or stop using soap on their faces altogether – that their acne greatly improves.
Tea tree oil is a remarkably effective natural acne remedy, and can be purchased on its own, or within many different kinds of soap or cleaners. Tea tree oil is not only a superlative cleanser, it acts as an antibacterial agent on your skin. This ensures that the acne you currently have doesn’t spread or become further inflamed.
It’s also good at fighting the itching that occurs when your skin is healing, which will also help stop you from constantly touching, poking, or scratching your face. Remember to dilute tea tree oil before using it, and apply it with care, keeping it away from your eyes, especially since undiluted oil can be very harsh.
Garlic is another excellent natural acne remedy. While garlic has been widely known as a cure all for many conditions, it also has antibacterial properties. Eating garlic raw is a wonderful way to receive its benefits, but if the taste is too strong for you, you can simply take a peeled clove, mash it to a paste, and then liberally apply it to the affected areas.
There may be a sting, depending on the sensitivity of your skin, but it should be mild. Let the poultice sit for a few minutes before rinsing it off with warm water.
Finding the right natural acne remedy for you can take a great deal of trial and effort, but there are so many of them to try. It can be daunting, when you see how many options there are, out there, but be proactive!
You never know what remedy is going to work well for you, so take a moment to think about how to move forward and what your skin is like. You might want to keep track of what remedies work and which ones don’t and build from there!
When looking for a way to get clean, clear, healthy skin, remember that natural remedies are a good choice for you and your body.
